Les Paul Guitars Auction Description: GIBSON HISTORIC MAKEOVERS 59 LES PAUL FLAMETOPDave Johnson era Historic Makeover "A Package" - Simply put the closest thing to an original Burst other than an old wood conversion which is at least three times the price! Dave is no longer a part of Historic Makovers in order to concentrate on restoration of original vintage guitars. Dave is considered a very knoledgeable expert on Vintage Les Pauls - his work is highly sought after. These Historic Makover guitars are as rare as their vintage counterparts. This guitar looks sounds and plays great. Guitar started life as a mint condition Gibson Historic 59 Les Paul. Dave did all the following work. Guitar is as it left his shop with no additional playing wear. Details of Dave's work on this guitar - a 2004 Gibson Historic 59 Les Paul :Complete refinish with correct aniline dyes and nitro-cellulose lacquer, Aged to look like an original Burst. Real checking, not done with a knife rather done the old fashioned way (checking visible in last picture above). Restamp original COA serial number with correct 50s typeface, Neck reshaped to correct "C" shape with roll-off at binding. New Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard, Hot hide glue reassembly, 50s style Cellulose Nitrate Inlays, 50s style Truss Rod - no truss rod "condom" for improved tone, 50's Style Nut and Frets. Aged RS True 60 PAF Zebra Coil Pickups by Lindy Fralin - these are nice and bright with very musical neck pickup and a bridge pick up sound that will cut your head off, Retro Spec vintage style plastic, aged vintage style Kluson tuners, complete Pigtail back end kit - bridge, tailpiece, studs and stud seats. Complete Dr Vintage Early Spec electronics kit. This guitar reminds me of my original late 59 Burst!Guitar comes with original Gibson Certificate of Authenticity and Historic Makovers Certificate of Authenticity and all tags and case candy.
