Les Paul Guitars Auction Description: Rare 1983 Gibson Les Paul CustomThis is a rare 1983 Gibson Les Paul Custom. Rare because it has a custom pear/metallic white finish. At least that's the best I can describe it. It has the original pull out string winders on the tuners. This Les Paul looks, sounds and plays great. It does have it's share of nicks and dings, but there's no breaks. It almost looks like a Les Paul Special style with the pickguard, and it does look pretty cool. However, it does hide an ugly secret under the ominous looking custom pickguard. It looks like someone (crudely) tried to add a third pickup at one time, and carved up the middle of the body. (I guess it makes it a few grams lighter anyway:) The pickguard really covers it up well. Other than that, there's no breaks or repairs, and it's a solid classic player from a superb era, (think Randy Rhoads). The original finish is really beautiful, and different than just a normal white finish. There is some color variations from aging and wear throughout the guitar, as you can see from the pics. There's also a little red tint in the finish around the edge of the back. I'm not sure what would have caused this, if it was from being in the case or what, but I know the white finishes from the 80's were prone to issues like this. This Les Paul Custom plays and sounds great. The pickups were changed to Seymour Duncans, and they sound hot! The pots are newer Gibson pots. The tailpiece has lots of wear. It has the weird original bridge that adjusts not only vertically, but multi-position horizontally. This comes with what looks like it's original chainsaw case, but one of the latches is missing, since there's only two to begin with. Nice players grade Gibson Les Paul Custom with a rare finish.
