Le Paul Guitar Auction: 1969 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe, mods, player or project NR

1969 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe, mods, player or project NR Les Paul Guitars Auction Description: 1969 Gibson Les Paul DeluxeFirst year Les Paul Deluxe, pot dates are mid 1969. Three piece neck. Two piece maple top with seam running along the treble side between the end of the tailpiece and the knobs. The body is NOT a 'pancake' body as the 1969 specs would suggest. I don't see any seams in the body at all, I believe this is a one-piece mahogany body. No volute and no 'made in USA', smaller headstock. No signs of any headstock repair. Sprague black beauty tone caps. No dot on the 'i' in Gibson. The serial number is 885xxx. The fingerboad and frets are in pretty good condition, some fret wear, no rutting in the fingerboard. The neck minihumbucker pickup has a dent in the cover, can be seen in the pics. The pickups have been un-soldered and re-soldered at some point, probably when the finish work was done. Everything works correctly, but the solder job is sloppy. This would have originally been a Goldtop. The guitar has been stripped and refinished clear by an amatuer, looks like it was brushed with varnish. There is hand-painted artwork on the top, under the clear finish. There are sanding marks visible through the finish, and there is extra sanding at the neck/body joint (maybe the neck was reset at some point??) The tuners have been changed to Grovers, the bridge has been changed to a later Gibson 'harmonica' style bridge. The knobs have been changed. numerous nicks, dings, scratches and signs of use. The guitar plays well and sounds great as it is, it could be used without any repairs or restoration. The electronics function as they should, the neck is straight and plays well all the way up with no buzzing or fretting out. The truss rod works. The guitar weighs 9 pounds 13 ounces on my postal scale. It comes in a later (probably late '70's) Gibson chainsaw hard case. The case has tape wrapped on the handle and probably lost some of its handle padding. This guitar has been owned and played by one person since the early 1980's. All of the changes were done before he bought the guitar. I can supply more pictures if needed, just let me know what you need to see. Please review the pictures and ask any questions before bidding.
