Les Paul Guitars Auction Description: 1974 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe GoldTopUp for auction is a great vintage Les Paul. This one has just been refretted with large frets and set up, so it's ready to be played. As you can see, the bridge pickup has been changed for a Seymour Duncan, and the pickguard is gone. The routing for the bridge pickup looks to have been professionally done. The instrument has its' share of nicks and dings from years of playing, but there are no breaks or cracks in the neck or body. The guitar's weight on my bathroom scale is hovering between 9 and 10 pounds.At some point in the instrument's past, someone oiled the tuners and used too much oil, so there is some staining of the wood around the tuners on the back of the headstock. That being said, the tuners turn very smoothly and hold tuning very well.The guitar sounds nice! It has good tone and strong sustain that you can only get from a Vintage instrument. The neck is mahogany, not the maple which Gibson switched to in 1975. If you want a vintage Les Paul, you'll be hard pressed to find a better deal than this one! Included is a very nice newer Gibson case.
