Les Paul Guitars Auction Description: 2004 Gibson Les Paul R9 - Custom Shop Historic in Iced Tea Burst.This guitar is from my personal collection, and honestly, something that I thought I'd never sell. However, some recent career opportunities are taking me on the road, and that means my collection needs to go on a diet.The flame on this R9 is unreal! And it soundsjust as good as it looks. The neck is a nice, deep, round '59 profile. It's an absolute pleasure to play! Most '59 necks I've played are either baseball bats, or else way too flat... this one gets it right!Guitar was $4500 originally (back when prices were soaring), and has another $1500 inupgrades. The upgrades include DMC truss-rod cover, DMCrings, DMC pickguard, DMC pokerchip, and aged DMC tuners with aged translucenttuner tips installed. DMC stuff really nails the classic vintage look of the real Bursts.The guitar has very early Wolftone Legends pickups that were purchased at the NAAM 2004show. Pickups are handwound PAF replicas with (Dead Mint Club) DMCcovers that are now "aged" from real wear.Luxe Bumblee capacitors and RS wiring kit was professionallyinstalled - no hack soldering in here, very clean - well worth the $$$ spentfor installation.Recent pro set-up with 10's. The frets weredressed/polished a little (so you won't see depressions from string wear) andthe fingerboard was oiled. The guitar is set up amazing and plays like adream. Has plenty of fret life left, would last me 20 years ofplaying before it would need new frets.Theguitar has been played a lot and has started to check, has light belt bucklerash (nothing through the paint), and has some light blemishes, scratches and/ordings. Again, nothing bad or anything that affects playability - it basicallyjust looks like one of Murphy's "Aged" guitars now.This is one of the nicest R9's money can buy, and all things considered it's selling for pretty darn cheap!Shipping will be in the original Lifton case.
