Les Paul Guitars Auction Description: This is a left-handed 1997 Les Paul Classic. The classic features a 1960's slim taper neck, which is a pleasure to play. The fretboard is rosewood and is adorned with aged binding and aged pearloid trapezoid inlays. The tuners are the vintage Kluson style.The body is made from one piece of Honduran mahogany and has a single-ply carved maple top. The top is surrounded by single ply aged white binding, which combines well with the gold colored top. The back and sides have a clear finish, and the guitar has the standard Gibson thin nitrocellulose lacquer gloss finish.The hardware is nickel and there are no pickup covers on the pickups (496R/500T). The gold top patina on this guitar is beautiful and all features combine well. The control knobs are the amber top hat type and the pick guard has a slightly aged appearance with "1960" subtly engraved along the horizontal aspect.The hard shell case is original and in good condition. There are a few surface nicks on the case, but the interior is very clean and all latches function properly.When I received this guitar, the tone pot for the neck pickup did not function, so it was replaced with a similiar resistance Gibson brand pot. At present, all electronics operate without any issues. All other hardware, and electronics are original. The truss rod cover may not be original. The guitar weights about 11 pounds.The guitar's finish is probably about a 9.5 out of 10 with minor finish checking around the headstock (see picture 7) and one slight indentation in the finish on the side (see picture 11). This is very minor, but I would prefer to mention it anyway. Currently, the guitar is set up with 0.10 gauge strings. The action is at 5/64" on the high E string at the 12th fret (or 0.08"). There is very light fret wear at the 2nd and 3rd frets under the G string.I plan on having FedEx package the guitar. The shipping weight should fall under 20 pounds.
