Here is some more info:A Custom Shop rendition of a blast from the past.The SG originally was intended as a Les Paul redesign and addressed what many considered the 2 main issues players had with the Les Paul: weight and upper fretboard access. Les Paul himself didn't like it so the Les Paul stuck to its original style and the new Les Paul design was renamed the SG Standard. Even though Les Paul didn't approve of it, countless rockers loved it and made it one of all-time hard rockin' favorites. Like all VOS (Vintage Original Spec) Series instruments, the SG Standard VOS is handcrafted for comfort and playability in the Gibson Custom Shop. The construction, neck profile, hardware, and electronics are period accurate, and a special nitrocellulose finish treatment gives it the patina of a gently aged vintage guitar.
