Les Paul Guitars Auction: 1997 Gibson Les Paul Elegant Custom Shop Arts & Historic Almost Mint

1997 Gibson Les Paul Elegant Custom Shop Arts & Historic Almost Mint Le Paul Guitar Auction Description: Sorry--it's correct now--- Thanks to some very knowledgeable and friendly ebayers i can re-list this accurately--i've been told and since confirmed that this is a 1997 Les Paul Elegant--so it is now re-listed properly--thanks for you patienceTHE PART I HATE--PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU HAVE A POST OFFICE BOX--UPS WILL NOT DELIVER TO THEM--PLEASE DO NOT BID WITHOUT CONTACTING ME FIRST IF YOU HAVE 1.) LESS THAN 10 PERFECT FEEDBACKS, 2.) LIVE IN CANADA, 3.) DO NOT HAVE A PAYPAL ACCOUNT WITH ENOUGH MONEY TO MAKE IMMEDIATE PAYMENT--WE CAN WORK WITH THIS BUT I NEED T0 HEAR FROM YOU--THANKS.I keep a core collection of about 30 guitars and seldom sell out of it--then there's another 20 or so guitars i buy just to play for awhile and re-sell--usually i lose money on the re-sale so i look at the loss as the cost of renting the guitar of my interest--once in a while i'll clear a profit which is great--but i'm not a re-seller--at least not in the classic sense and if i were i'd probably be considered the world's worse since i usually lose money on the re-sale. But i do get to play a whole lot of interesting instruments. Being retired has its advantages.I make it a policy to never sell a guitar that has not been completely gone over by my luthier prior to offering it--i hate buying an instrument from someone who doesn't know about guitars but thinks that it looks pretty--i'm also not an expert--so i make sure everything i sell--unless otherwise noted--is cleaned, polished, new strings, electronics checked and adjusted if necessary, frets checked, fretboard oiled, neck angle checked, intonation optimized (for my preferences) and black lighted for any previous repairs or damage by my luthier--this costs me $100 but it is well worth the peace of mind that comes with offering an instrument you know is going to be well received. If he finds something i either fix it or note it in the item description. Please check the scans for instrument details--there's really not much to say about this--it's a beautiful excellent plus 1997 Arts & Historic Les Paul Elegant. Almost Mint with Original Case. The Serial Number is 7 9067--I don't know the story on this guitar--except that it plays like a dream and sounds even better i have very little from the original owner who sold it because of some personal hardships--very reluctantly--he told me everything was original and that he bought it from Guitar Center new--as much as i could get from him by email.the Seymour Duncan pickups--these are not original--i'm told they're an upgrade but all i know is that they sound spectacular on this instrument--I believe they're Antiquities --the covers for them are in the case and can be seen in one of the scans--The sound is absolutely phenomenal--the body is chambered so it's light--it has of course the thicker 50s style neck with an ebony fretboard and beautiful abalone inlays--my guess on the weight is about 8 pounds--it's really light for a les paul. But again--the sound is just out of this world--this combination of wood and sound chamber and pickups has been 100 years in development and you plug this in and can't believe what comes out of the amp--i'm not going to rave anymore because most people looking already know this but i hate to give this up--if it had a 60s neck on it i never let it go. But my search for the perfect modern les paul neck goes on--this one is a bit too wide for me.The wood is top of the line custom shop quality--the grain is liquid under the finish--a striking series of stripes inundated in honey and extruded deeper into the wood by the layers of nitro--it's one of the most beautiful custom shop bodies i've seen.Missing pick guard--hole is drilled for it but original owner never put it on and lost it. Everything else about the guitar is original and the ebony fretboard with the abalone inlays are striking next to the amber striped wood--a feast for the eys and the ears--no kidding. No hidden flaws--everything known about the guitar disclosed--beautiful instrument.Shipping is an estimate only so please waituntil i send you an invoice--once i have a zip code i can be precise and anyover payment will always be refunded. I live in the furthest north westcorner of the US so the east coast is very expensive--the estimate is for eastcoast--if you live in the midwest or west coast it will be incrementally lessexpensive. Again--actual receipt can be provided by scan for verificationof shipping charges upon request. PLEASE NOTE I DO NOT NOR WILL NOTSHIP USPS BECAUSE OF UN-REFUNDED DAMAGES INCURRED IN THE PAST. I ONLYSHIP UPS.I have perfect feedback in over 3000 transactions--mostly as an ebay seller ofstamps and philatelic material but in the last 3 years or so i've been sellingparts of my guitar collection and have sold well over 30 guitars with perfectfeedback for those sales as well. Bid with confidence that the item willbe as described and arrive in perfect working condition. With that said, because of abuses of my previous generous return policy, the item is sold "as is" with the exception of it being improperlydescribed -- i keep archival photos of all my guitars so comparisons can be made against any alleged damage---please ask questions beforeyou bid.--NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING (TOOEXPENSIVE) WITH THE EXCEPTION OF CANADA--PLEASE EMAIL FIRST FOR RATESGUITAR IS FOR SALE OTHER PLACES AND I WILL ALSO ACCEPT VERY REASONABLE OFFERSCLOSE TO THE BUY IT NOW AMOUNT--NO PRESSURE TO SELL THIS ONE OTHER THAN A SORTOF DOWN SIZING--NO TRADESOn Mar-26-12 at 18:59:57 PDT, seller added the following information: 1997 was the first production year for the Elegant--it's a 1997 because after 1999 "CS" proceeded the numbersOn Mar-26-12 at 21:07:39 PDT, seller added the following information: a few people have asked about the pickups--there was no routing done--the originals were PAFs which can be picked up should anyone want to have the original sound on ebay--the SDs dropped right into the same opening

Les Paul Guitars Auction: Gibson Les Paul Standard Plus 2010 Burstbuckers Heritage Cherry Sunburst

Gibson Les Paul Standard Plus 2010 Burstbuckers Heritage Cherry Sunburst Le Paul Guitar Auction Description: You ARE BIDDING ON A Gibson Les Paul Standard plus. It is in Excelent Mint Condition. Had been lightly played. Absolutely gorgeous. Good Luck! New Asymmetrical Neck ProfileThe 2008 Les Paul Standard debuts Gibson's newest neck profile"an asymmetrical design that makes it one of the most comfortable and playable necks ever offered on any guitar. The new ergonomically-correct profile is tapered, and designed to be thicker on the bass side, and thinner on the treble side, closely outlining the natural form of the hand as it grips the neck. The 2008 Standard necks are machined in Gibson's rough mill using wood shapers to make the initial cuts. Once the rosewood fingerboard gets glued on, the rest"including the final sanding"is done by hand. That means there are no two necks with the exact same dimensions. So while it still has the basic characteristics of its respective profile, each neck will be slightly different, with a distinct but traditional feel.Chambered Mahogany BodyEvery new 2008 Les Paul Standard will benefit from Gibson's proven chambering technique, which leaves each guitar with perfect tone, balance, and weight. Prior to gluing the maple cap on top of the mahogany body, the expert craftsmen at Gibson USA carve out carefully mapped-out chambers in the body using a Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) router. The positioning of the routes was established after careful examination of the resonant characteristics of the Les Paul. Gibson approached this process with the awareness that every change to the formula would have repercussions on the instrument's sound. So, in addition to relieving the stress on a player's back and shoulder, these lighter Gibson guitars also enhance the tone palette in a manner unique only to these guitars. The results are comfortable, lightweight guitars that are acoustically louder, with increased sustain and resonance.TonePros Locking Tune-o-matic Bridge and Locking Stopbar TailpieceThe Tune-o-matic bridge was the brainchild of legendary Gibson president Ted McCarty in 1954, setting the standard for simplicity and functionality that has never been bettered. The 2008 Les Paul Standard features TonePros locking Nashville Tune-o-matic in a chrome finish, which has saddle adjustment screws on the pickup side, and pre-notched saddles for quick installation. The chrome locking stopbar tailpiece is also from TonePros. These parts come with locking studs designed to secure both components firmly to the body so that there is no lean, yielding a great union between the strings and body which results in excellent tone and sustain. Pickups: Gibson Burstbucker ProsGibson's drive to recapture the magic of the original "Patent Applied For" humbucker pickups of the 1950s culminated with the introduction of the Burstbucker line in the early 1990s. In 2002, Gibson followed up this innovative accomplishment with yet another breakthrough in pickup design"the Burstbucker Pro, designed specifically for the new Les Paul Standards. The Burstbucker Pro features an Alnico V magnet (instead of the Alnico II), which offers slightly higher output and allows preamps to be driven a little harder to achieve a more natural break-up. Like all Burstbuckers, the Burstbucker Pro has asymmetrical coils"true to the original PAFs"which supply a more open sound. The Burstbucker Pro Neck is wound slightly less than the original PAFs, while the Burstbucker Pro Bridge is slightly overwound for increased output. The Burstbucker Pro pickups are also wax potted to allow loud volume pressures with minimal feedback.Revolutionary Plek Set UpThe 2008 Les Paul Standard is one of the first models from Gibson USA to utilize the revolutionary Plek machine in setting up the guitar. The Plek is a German-made, computer controlled machine that carefully measures each fret, along with the fingerboard height under each string, and then automatically dresses each fret, virtually eliminating string buzz and greatly improving the overall playability of the guitar. This pioneering process does in minutes what it takes a luthier several hours"sometimes even days"to accomplish. Every fret is accurately aligned, and the guitar is properly intonated, leaving the instrument "Plek'd" and amazingly playable.Locking Neutrik JackNeutrik has been making superior electronic interconnection products since 1975, making them the logical choice to supply the performance safeguarding jack in Gibson's 2008 Les Paul Standard. Like many Neutrik products, the jack in the 2008 Les Paul Standard is manufactured from strong, high-grade thermoplastics and housed in a rugged diecast nickel shell. A retention spring inside the jack ensures optimum grip on any guitar cable, thus avoiding the chance of lost connection.Locking Grover TunersThe 2008 Les Paul Standard is outfitted with locking tuners from Grover, which deliver ease of use through a standard tuner and positive locking mechanism that securely locks each string in place. Simply insert each string through the string hole, turn the dial on the bottom of the tuner to lock the string, and begin tuning. Each string can be tuned to pitch in less than one complete revolution of the post. These Grover machine heads feature completely sealed components with an improved 18:1 tuning ratio.Custom-Made, Solderless PotentiometersThe 2008 Les Paul Standard features all newly designed controls, including custom-made, solderless potentiometers. These new potentiometers deliver accuracy and high reliability, while giving the Standard '08 a new level of sonic clarity and intensity never before seen in a Les Paul.New Enlarged Neck TenonThe 2008 Les Paul Standard sports a revolutionary enlarged neck tenon designed by Gibson's team of pioneering engineers. The expanded neck tenon features an innovative interlocking joint that allows the neck to be dropped into the body from the guitar's top side, as opposed to sliding the neck in from the rim. When the glue is added, a solid unyielding bond is created that maximizes the wood to wood contact between the neck and the body, offering increased stability and superb transfer of vibration for enhanced tone, improved sustain, and superior resonance. It is also the largest neck tenon in the history of the Les Paul.New Enlarged Neck TenonThe 2008 Les Paul Standard sports a revolutionary enlarged neck tenon designed by Gibson's team of pioneering engineers. These new potentiometers deliver accuracy and high reliability, while giving the Standard '08 a new level of sonic clarity and intensity never before seen in a Les Paul.Body BindingTo see the process of putting the binding on a Les Paul Standard is to really appreciate the effort and attention that Gibson puts into each instrument. A lone craftsman carefully glues and fits two pieces of binding around the entire body of a Les Paul. He then winds a single, very long piece of narrow cloth around the entire body until the entire surface is nearly covered. The body is then hung to dry for a full 24 hours before it is unwrapped and moved into the next phase of production. It has been done the same way for over 100 years. Some question the value of adding binding, but Gibson believes it is a fundamental part of our rich guitar-making history. The binding adds elegance to the Les Paul Standard, and helps protect the edges of the body. The neck binding is installed over the fret ends, which eliminates sharp fret edges and provides for a smooth neck and easier playability.Nitrocellulose FinishApplying a nitrocellulose finish to any Gibson guitar"including the Les Paul Standard"is one of the most labor-intensive elements of the guitar-making process. A properly applied nitro finish requires extensive man hours, several evenly applied coats, and an exorbitant amount of drying time. But this fact has never swayed Gibson into changing this time-tested method, employed ever since the first guitar was swathed with lacquer back in 1894. Why? For starters, a nitro finish dries to a much thinner coat than a polyurethane finish, which means there is less interference with the natural vibration of the instrument, allowing for a purer tone. A nitro finish is also a softer finish, which makes it easily repairable. You can touch up a scratch or ding on a nitro finish, but you can't do the same on a poly finish. In addition, a nitro finish is very porous in nature, and actually gets thinner over time. It does not "seal" wood in an airtight shell"as a poly finish does"and allows the wood to breathe and age properly.TonePros Locking Tune-o-matic Bridge and Locking Stopbar TailpieceThe Tune-o-matic bridge was the brainchild of legendary Gibson president Ted McCarty in 1954, setting the standard for simplicity and functionality that has never been bettered. The results are comfortable, lightweight guitars that are acoustically louder, with increased sustain and resonance.Plus Maple TopEver since the introduction of the Les Paul"and especially the models from Gibson "Golden Era" of the late 1950s and early 1960s"one of its most distinguishing features has been the unique, highly distinct patterns of the flame maple top. The "Plus" maple caps on the 2008 Les Paul Standards emulate the tops of the Les Pauls from yesteryear (Ebony and Goldtop models are fitted with "Plain" maple tops).Set-Neck ConstructionLike all classic Gibson guitars, the necks on Les Pauls are distinguished by one of the more traditional features that have always set them apart"a glued neck joint. Gluing the neck to the body of the guitar ensures a "wood-to-wood" contact, no air space in the neck cavity, and maximum contact between the neck and body, allowing the neck and body to function as a single unit. The result? Better tone, better sustain, and no loose or misaligned necks.Trapezoid Inlays The classic trapezoid inlay is one of the most distinguishable features of many traditional Gibson models, including the Les Paul. A figured, swirl acrylic gives these inlays that classic "pearl" look. They are inserted into the fingerboard using a process that eliminates gaps and doesn't require the use of fillers.Alloy Fret WireThe fret wire on the 2008 Les Paul Standard is a combination nickel and silver alloy (approximately 80 percent nickel and 20 percent silver) specifically designed for long life and superior wear. The 2008 Standard's fret wire is Gibson's "medium/jumbo" fret wire, which is first shaped by hand then cut to an exact 12-inch radius. After hand pressing it into the fingerboard, a machine press finishes the job to eliminate the gap between the bottom of the fret wire and the fingerboard.22-Fret Rosewood FingerboardRosewood has always graced the fingerboards of the world's finest stringed instruments, including many of today's Gibsons. The fingerboards on Gibson's Les Paul Standards are constructed from the highest grade rosewood on the planet. The rosewood is personally inspected and qualified by Gibson's team of skilled wood experts before it enters the factories to be fitted onto the neck of the Les Paul Standard. The resilience of this dense and durable wood makes these fingerboards extremely balanced and stable, and gives each chord and note unparalleled clarity and bite. The 12-inch radius of the fingerboard provides smooth note bending capabilities and eliminates "dead" or "choked out" notes, common occurrences on fingerboards with lesser radiuses.New Asymmetrical Neck ProfileThe 2008 Les Paul Standard debuts Gibson's newest neck profile"an asymmetrical design that makes it one of the most comfortable and playable necks ever offered on any guitar. So while it still has the basic characteristics of its respective profile, each neck will be slightly different, with a distinct but traditional feel.Adjustable Truss RodThe adjustable truss rod is a Gibson innovation that revolutionized the guitar. Before this ground-breaking discovery in the early 1920s, the truss rod was used only to strengthen and stabilize the neck. By making it adjustable, the truss rod now allows a guitar to be set up using a variety of string gauges, as well as string heights. This easily accommodates any style of playing, and allows a limitless range of set-up options. And by placing it at the base of the headstock, the adjustable nut is easily accessible, even while the strings are still on the guitar.Angled HeadstockThe angled headstock is another example of Gibson's industry-changing way of thinking. Every Gibson headstock is carved out of the same piece of mahogany as the neck then fitted with Gibson's traditional wing blocks. It is not a "glued-on" headstock, and the process takes craftsmanship, time, and effort. But the rewards are worth the effort. The headstock is carefully angled at 17 degrees, which increases pressure on the strings and helps them stay in the nut slots. An increase in string pressure also means there is no loss of string vibration between the nut and the tuners, which equals better sustain. The Gibson LogoThe most innovative and revolutionary stringed instruments of all time have carried the name Gibson"the Les Paul, the ES-335, the Explorer, the Flying V, the SG. The list goes on and on. There is no mistaking the classic, hand-crafted mother of pearl logo, inlayed into a pressed fiber-head veneer that is then glued to the face of the mahogany headstock. A thin coat of lacquer finishes the process. It is the most recognizable logo in all of music, representing more than a century of originality and excellence. There is simply no equal. Les Paul Guitars Auction: Gibson Custom 1959 Les Paul Standard VOS : LPR9VOWCNH1

Gibson Custom 1959 Les Paul Standard VOS : LPR9VOWCNH1 Le Paul Guitar Auction Description: This Gibson 1959 Les Paul Standard VOS is in great condition. The only imperfection is a small ding on the headstock (see photo). Despite this blemish, it is in overall beautiful condition. It sounds and plays great. It comes with a hardcase and certificate of authenticity. Message with any questions. Thanks! Gibson's Les Paul Standard model from 1959 is the most highly acclaimed, widely recognized solid body electric guitar in the entire world, coveted by both players and collectors as the ultimate example of playability, attractiveness and tone among all six-stringed instruments. In an industry filled with imitations and replicas, the iconic 1959 Les Paul Standard simply has no equal. Named after Lester William Polsfuss, aka Les Paul - legendary American jazz guitarist, and true pioneer in the development of recorded music - the Les Paul model guitar became the "Standard" in July 1958 after company president Ted McCarty and his staff decided to add the new designation and forego the guitar's traditional Goldtop finish for a new, brighter finish dubbed Cherry Sunburst, which allowed the natural beauty of the Les Paul Standard's maple top to be showcased. The company was hoping the changes would improve its sales of solid body electric guitars, which had been declining since 1953 when the Gibson shipped 2,245 Les Paul Model guitars.BodyWhile the full impact of the 1959 Les Paul Standard was still several years away from being realized, its influence on guitar design was already well underway. Besides its exceptional tone and playability, the 1959 version of the Les Paul Standard was renowned for its two "bookmatched" pieces of maple wood that made up the top of the guitar. While most of the Les Paul Standard tops in 1958 were considered "plain," some of the maple tops in 1959 - and into 1960 - were "flamed" or "figured," adding a three-dimensional, cosmetic element never before seen on any solid body guitar. The beautiful patterns, however, went largely unnoticed at the time, with Gibson paying no particular attention to selecting wood with distinct grain patterns. Other cosmetic changes on the 1959 Les Paul Standard included a slightly thinner neck profile, a smaller heel, and a change to larger "jumbo"-sized frets, which are still in use today.FinishThe guitar's new Cherry Sunburst finish also saw its first full year of use in 1959, despite problems with the consistency of the red pigment used to paint it - a problem that wasn't corrected until late 1960. This caused the finish on many guitars to fade to some degree of amber, honey or yellow hue, further adding to the beauty and mystique of the instrument.Near-perfect RecreationThe 1959 Les Paul Standard reissue produced today by Gibson Custom is true to all of the original instrument's features and characteristics, including Gibson's traditional hand-carved "figured" maple top and solid, non-weight relieved mahogany body. The headstock is made from Holly head veneer, as opposed to fiber, just like it was in 1959, and the vintage-style tulip tuners are mounted in a straight line, also as they were on the original. The 24 ¾-inch scale length neck is made from one solid piece of mahogany, and attached to the body using a long neck tenon " one of the Les Paul's more distinguishing characteristics of the 1950s. The neck is topped by a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard outfitted with acrylic trapezoid inlays matching the size and color of the originals. Of course, two of Gibson's legendary Burstbucker pickups deliver all the subtle variations of true, classic "Patent Applied For" humbucker tone by using historically "unmatched" bobbin windings and Alnico II magnets. Other historical appointments include CTS potentiometers, bumble bee capacitors, rolled crème-colored fingerboard binding, single-ply crème-colored binding around the body, and a period-correct thin toggleswitch washer and jackplate. The 1959 Les Paul Standard comes in either a V.O.S. or Gloss finish, and with the standard Gibson Custom case and certificate of authenticity. They are available in Faded Tobacco Burst, Washed Cherry Burst and Iced Tea Burst.Famous PlayersOne of the first guitarists to recognize the potential of the 1959 Les Paul Standard was The Rolling Stones' Keith Richards, who obtained a 1959 model in 1964 that had been outfitted with a Bigsby tremolo tailpiece. Around 1966, emerging British guitarist Eric Clapton - himself influenced by the early 1950s Les Paul models played by Freddie King and Hubert Sumlin - also recognized the Les Paul Standard's exceptional tone and playability, and began playing them almost exclusively. Before long, the Les Paul Standards of the late 1950s had found their way into the hands of future guitar legends Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Duane Allman, Peter Green and Michael Bloomfield, among others, eventually helping to reshape the sound of a worldwide musical movement, while forever changing the standard by which all other electric guitars are measured. On Mar-23-12 at 14:50:52 PDT, seller added the following information:I added pictures of the hardshell case and Certificate of Authenticity. As you can see from the photos, the case has a black exterior with a crushed red velvet interior. All the original case candy is included.

Les Paul Guitars Auction: Gibson Les Paul Historic R9 1959 59 beautiful flame burst, tone! NO Reserve!

Gibson Les Paul Historic R9 1959 59 beautiful flame burst, tone! NO Reserve! Le Paul Guitar Auction Description: This is a beautiful flamed 2004 Gibson Les Paul R9 burst from Gibson's Custom and Historic Division. Plays perfectly, and is one of the good ones - acoustically it is VERY resonant and in really nice condition overall. Nice dark rosewood board and very comfortable neck. Weight is perfect at 8 lbs 14 ounces. The only wear is a bit of light buckle rash on the back as well as one small chip in the paint on the side edge (pictured). Frets and playability otherwise are excellent. My recent job loss means this guitar must go unfortunately ($1 and NO reserve - bid to win). Will be very well packed (check my feedback and buy with confidence!) with string tension reduced. Includes original hardshell case and extra pack of Gibson pure-nickel would vintage reissue strings. Really hate to see this guitar go but these are tough times.

Les Paul Guitars Auction: Gibson Custom 1960 Les Paul Standard VOS Re-Issue w/ Hardcase

Gibson Custom 1960 Les Paul Standard VOS Re-Issue w/ Hardcase Le Paul Guitar Auction Description: This Gibson Les Paul Standard 1960 VOS ReIssue is beautiful and in pristine condition, having been taken out of its case only a handful of times. Even then, it was only lightly played. As you can see from the photos I haven't installed the pickguard, but it is included in the hardcase and it is easy to install. It also comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. Shipping will be $30 via FedEx Ground. Expedited shipping is available for an additional charge. Message me with any questions and I will do my best to respond to them as soon as I can. Thanks! Description from Gibson's website:In hindsight, it's certainly difficult to fathom Gibson's Les Paul Standard of the late 1950s and early 1960s not appealing to the masses. Yet that's exactly what happened, even as Gibson officials tried desperately to fine tune the instrument and make it suitable to the general guitar-playing public. Sadly, their efforts proved unsuccessful as the Les Paul Standard was shelved midway through 1960 to make way for a new design that featured beveled edges, twin cutaways and a much thinner body - the guitar known today as the SG Standard. The Les Paul Standards manufactured in 1960 - all 635 of them - represented the last attempts by Gibson to modify the guitar's existing design in an effort to improve sales numbers that had fallen steadily since 1956. The guitars produced during the first half of 1960 were generally considered to be an extension of the 1959 Les Paul Standard, with the majority having thicker, rounded neck profiles (though not as thick as 1958), and many of them experiencing the same fading paint problem with the finish. By mid 1960, however, Gibson had begun manufacturing the Les Paul Standard with a much thinner neck profile, known today as the '60s Slim Taper profile.Body & FinishThe 1960's Standard changed the pigment in its Cherry Sunburst finish to a brighter, fade resistant red, known today in many circles as "Tangerine" sunburst. The change in pigment, along with Gibson's continued used of "bookmatched" maple tops with "flamed" or "figured" patterns, combined to produce some of the most visually appealing Les Paul Standards of the era.HardwareOf course, the rest of the 1960 Les Paul Standard embodied all of the changes of the previous three years - changes that had transformed the guitar into the iconic model that it would eventually become some years later. Among the modifications were Gibson's legendary "Patent Applied For" humbucking pickups with metal covers, and jumbo-sized frets, all of which still adorns today's Les Paul Standard. Also changed were the guitar's volume and tone knobs, which went from what's commonly referred to as "speed" knobs (clear tops) to the more stylish "Top Hat" knobs with a metal insert on top.Near-perfect RecreationThe 1960 Les Paul Reissue from Gibson Custom is an accurate recreation of this truly classic and timeless instrument. It stays true to all of the original instrument's features and characteristics, including Gibson's traditional hand-carved "figured" maple top and solid, and non-weight relieved mahogany body. The headstock is made from Holly head veneer, as opposed to fiber, just like it was in 1960, and the vintage-style tulip tuners are mounted in a straight line, also as they were on the original. The 24 ¾-inch scale length neck is made from one solid piece of mahogany, and attached to the body using a long neck tenon " one of the Les Paul's more distinguishing characteristics of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Other historical appointments include CTS potentiometers, bumble bee capacitors, single-ply crème-colored binding on both the top and fingerboard, a period-correct thin toggleswitch washer and jackplate, and ABR-1 bridge with lightweight aluminum stopbar tailpiece. The 1960 Les Paul Standard comes in either a V.O.S. or Gloss finish, and with the standard Gibson Custom case and certificate of authenticity. They are available in Faded Tobacco Burst, Washed Cherry Burst and Iced Tea Burst.

Taking design and visual cues from the Les Pauls of the '80s and '90s, the Les Paul Traditional starts with a Grade-A mahogany body and adds nine strategically placed traditional weight-relief holes for a beefy tone that maintains the resonance of modern Les Pauls, while losing a large portion of the weight. This is capped with a maple top, giving the Les Paul Traditional the look of the great Les Pauls that helped to bring rock back to the front of the stage in the mid '80s. Capping the Traditional with a maple top not only looks great, but it also brings out presence and definition to the tone. With the look of the great Les Paul Standards that helped to make rock king again, and every ounce of the tone thanks to legendary Gibson construction, classic tonewoods, and two genuine humbucking pickups, the Les Paul Traditional is the guitar to take your music center stage where it belongs. Gibson Les Paul Traditional Plus Electric Guitar FeaturesFeatures Gibson's rounded 50's-Style neck profile Classic 'burst finish Gibson's renowned '57 Classic pickups supply vintage PAF humbucker crunch Traditional weight-relieved mahogany body offers enhanced acoustics and resonance TonePros vintage-style tuners offer world-class performance, classic lookOne of the key ingredients in both the sound and feel of the Les Paul Traditional is its rounded-'50s profile neck. Carved from solid quarter-sawn Grade-A mahogany, this neck transfers more string resonance to the body than thin necks, while offering the ergonomic, palm-filling grip that countless players have come to love. Taking all this sweet tone from wood to wire is a 57 Classic humbucker in the neck position and an overwound 57 Classic Plus in the bridge, two of Gibson's most popular pickups. They are designed along the lines of great vintage PAF-style humbuckers, but rounded off with some added versatility for the contemporary player, thanks to coils that are evenly wound and wax potted, giving the 57s a smooth overdriven tone and outstanding resistance to microphone feedback squeal. Keeping it all tight and singing at the body end is the classic pairing of Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece; while a dense Corian nut and Tone Pros tuners do their thing at the headstock. Put it all together, and it just could be the Les Paul of your dreams.Body and Finish Crafted from a highly figured Grade-AA maple plus top and weight relieved Grade-A mahogany back in the image of the classic Les Paul Standard, these guitars are finished in traditional nitrocellulose lacquer. The guitar's classic looks are further enhanced by vintage cream binding and transparent gold Speed Knobs. Neck and Headstock The guitars neck and headstock are made in the classic tradition of the original 1959 Les Paul. Carved from a single piece of quarter-sawn Grade-A mahogany, and topped with a rosewood fingerboard, the design incorporates a 17-degree back-angled headstock, which contributes greatly to the instrument's resonance and sustain and has long been recognized as one of the building blocks of the legendary Les Paul Standard tone. Pickups and Electronics The Les Paul Traditional carries a complement of pickups and electronics designed to enhance its tonal splendor while retaining the characteristics of the classic Les Paul Standard. A 57 Classic and 57 Classic Plus offer all the tonal depth and versatility required to maximize the potential of this model's exalted tonewoods, while the traditional control array of two volume and two tone pots and three-way selector switch offer outstanding versatility to the player. Hardware The Les Paul Traditional is equipped with Tone Pros tuners, a Tune-o-matic bridge, and a stop-bar tailpiece, plus the traditional aluminum strap buttons. This hardware set provides a traditional look, while also maximizing tone and performance. ***IMPORTANT NOTICE*** We require insurance on most items with a winning bid over $100. Les Paul Guitars Auction: 2006 Gibson R9 Les Paul VOS 59 re-issue 1959 Custom Shop - Great Guitar LP

2006 Gibson R9 Les Paul VOS 59 re-issue 1959 Custom Shop - Great Guitar LP Le Paul Guitar Auction Description: Hello, here i have a really great 2006 R9 Les Paul up for auction. This guitar has been my main instrument for several years and is a joy to play. I have played hundreds of shows with it and it's one of the good ones. It weighs 8 lb 13 oz. The neck is nice and fat like the real 59's were. It's just shy of 1" at the first fret. I have upgraded a few things over the years - the most important upgrade was replacing the factory pots, switch, wiring, and tone caps with a really nice RS Guitarworks kit. Those caps Gibson puts in these guitars are just plain wrong - this kit really opened up the guitar tone - stock these sound choked and kind of nasaly. This upgrade made a huge difference - you can actually use the volume and tone controls the way they are supposed to be used. It's wired like the old ones from the 50's - the tone caps from RS are great and i have been very happy with them. I also changed the tailpiece to one of the locking ones from tonepros - nice upgrade. original one will be included. Strap locks installed - i don't own a guitar without them. I will include the pieces to put on your strap and the old stock strap buttons. This guitar is nice and resonant - it's a bit on the heavy side of les pauls which i have found that the heavier ones have a bigger voice with more authority - that's the best way to describe how this guitar sounds and feels. It's very commanding. I get lots of comments about this guitar - both about the sound and appearance whenever i play it. It's got some honest play wear - there are a couple of noticeable dings - one close to the input jack - it's dented in but the paint isn't chipped. The dent is about the size of the tip of a 1/4" guitar plug. The other noticeable mark is under the bottom strap lock - when i removed the stock strap button, some paint came off right around the button. The strap lock covers it for the most part - but you can see a tiny bit around the base of the strap button. Other than that - it's just light hazing in the clearcoat in all the normal spots - some superficial scratches in the back and on the headstock from string changes. None of that stuff is through the clear finish and could be buffed out if someone was worried about them. I'm not one that just hangs guitars up to look at - I actually play mine and the wear on it is what you would expect. I had the frets dressed about 6 months ago - theyre great - nice and level - no issues with any of that. The neck set is real nice - I think the ones with the neck angled so that you set the bridge pretty low sound better. I've seen a few that were lower (bridge) than this guitar, but you can see in the picture it's pretty low to the body which is important in a Les Paul style guitar. The tuners are nice and smooth, the nut is cut well - no binding. This guitar is ready to go and plays well. I'm starting the bidding at a buck and will just let the auction run. The guitar will be well packed and fully insured. By the way - the case is in such new condition because it stayed at home and i carried the guitar around in an ata road case. I never had a COA with the guitar, but i have all the other case candy as shown in the picture. I will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have. Oh yeah - the pickups are a 57 classic in the neck position and the burst bucker in the bridge.

Les Paul Guitars Auction: Gibson Les Paul Neil Young

Gibson Les Paul Neil Young Le Paul Guitar Auction Description: This is a Les Paul Is stamped on the inside R6 which means its a 56 R Gold Top Made in The USA! Sprauge Bumble Bees CTS Pots USA Bigsby, Modeled after Neil Young's Old Black. It has a Great sound for those who dig Neil Young! P-90 in the front Firebird pick up in the rear and a bypass switch, which makes it loud as F#@*#! the Peace and Dove strap comes with it!It has honest wear, but is in great shape! a few dings here and there. Old Black is allegedly a 1953 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop. It has been customized quite considerably: after the guitar had been left at a guitar repair store, the original bridge pickupwas replaced by a Gretsch Dynasonic single-coil pickup. Eventually a mini-humbucker pickup from a Gibson Firebird guitar replaced the Dynasonic. The neck pickup has always been the original P-90 pickup, but it is covered by a metal P-90 cover, most likely from a Gibson ES-330. It was roughly resprayed to jet black, and received a new Tune-o-maticbridge (not available when the guitar was produced) and a B-7 model Bigsby vibrato tailpiece. It would presumably also have had a white plastic pickguard at some point, as was standard on 1953 Goldtops. Old Black is notable for its metal hardware, including an aluminium pickguard. The pickguard and back plates are chrome-on-brass. The tuners have been replaced with Schaller M-6 tuning keys, and the rest of the hardware is mostly nickel-plated. The headstock displays a partially painted-over mother-of-pearl inlay, sometimes referred to as a "wheat stack", rather than the typical "Les Paul Model" silk screened logo, along with single-ply binding around the headstock, although it has fallen off. There are several possibilities as to how the guitar ended up with these modifications. Most likely is that the neck was replaced by Gibson sometime between 1961 and 1968. In 1961, Gibson replaced the commercially unpopular Les Paul model with the guitar we now know as the SG. Les Paul was not happy with the new version of his namesake guitar, so he ended his endorsement of it. When he ended his endorsement, Gibson was not allowed to put the silk-screened Les Paul Model logo on their guitars anymore. Although rare, there are several examples of 1950s Les Pauls that were sent to the Gibson factory in the 1960s for neck replacements, and they all have the "Wheat Stack" inlay on the headstock.Starting the bids at 99 cents. Or Buy it Now for 9000.00 I've had it for a long time! I will let the buyer decide what it is worth, I haven't seen many of these!Keep On Rockin In The Free World!Peace!
