Le Paul Guitar Auction Description: Gibson Les Paul DeluxeSerial#4148xx & Made in USA on back of headstock From what I saw on the internet, this makes it a 1974 or 1975 ??This one is a project. Pretty beat up, don't know what is original on it, but I don't think much is..Has cracking - or is this what is called checking? - all over the body and neck - see photosDon't know if the cracks are in the finish, or thru the wood, especially on the back of the neckHas a lot of bruises - see photosHas a lot of holes where the tuners attach, It seems like there were other tuners installedThe tuners don't seem aligned and the back pieces of a couple of tuners come off when you try to tune it Tuners seem bent..don't know if these are the original ones or not - they say 'S' and 'Deluxe' on the back of themStrings are ancient, frets have the green grime on them...does not look like too much fretwear though...Wish I could post more photos..There is a ding at the 9th fret, treble side in the binding and fretboardand probably a lot more imperfections..I don't think any of the hardware is Stock. The pots have long stems and the knobs stick way out over the body2 pots are different from the other 2The bridge does not have the correct opening where it sits...holes are too bigI don't know a lot about Gibsons, but I will do my best to answer your questionsComes with a Gibson case with purple lining...don't know if it's the original one or not..wish I could post more photosNo returns. Le Paul Guitar Auction Description: Up for auction is a VERY RARE 1998 Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Custom Florentine in Fireburst Red finish with Flame Top. This Model has a maple top with f holes, incredible mahogany back, sides and neck, bound ebony fret board, mother of pearl inlay on fret board and head stock, long neck tenon, 60's slim neck, Grover tuning keys, gold hardware, 57 Classic pickups and Gibson Custom Shop hard shell case. Very few of these were made by Gibson and the quality rivals any guitar made on earth. I have never owned a more perfectly finished and beautiful guitar. These pictures do not truely display the flame in the top or the beautiful color contrasts in the finish. This Florentine is in new condition. NEVER PLAYED!!! NO WEAR ON THE GOLD FINISH, NO MARKS and NO FRET WEAR. The mahogany wood used on the neck and back is stunning. All binding is perfect and crisp!!Sounds similar to a Les Paul Custom and Gibson ES 335. Weighs about 2 pounds less than a solid body Les Paul Custom. These are very difficult to find in any condition much less like new. A great guitar to collect as an investment or play. Feel free to ask questions. ThanksOn Aug-25-10 at 04:12:54 PDT, seller added the following information:I bought this guitar new as an investment new from a local music shop that is no longer in business. It has been in the case stored the closet for 13 years. Although it's almost 13 years old, it does still have the original warranty booklet in the case that was never activated with Gibson.

LIVE AUCTION REQUIREMENTS - SEE BEFORE BIDDING
Le Paul Guitar Auction Description: Details and pics to follow... please check back...On Aug-16-10 at 23:51:08 PDT, seller added the following information:1981 Gibson Les Paul Artist - FireburstVintage, excellent condition!SKIP TO THE PICTURES AND COME BACK TO THE BLAH BLAH BLAH! :)What a truly awesome and unique guitar! These were the top-of-the-line Les Paul in their day (1979-1981). There are some great articles out on the web about the model, so I'll try not to repeat too much info. The main characteristic of the Artist is the Bob Moog designed active on-board electronics. The top knob provides active volume, the bottom two are active boost/cut bass and treble controls with a center detent for normal. The three switches provide wonderfully warm analog compression, an expander, and treble boost. With everything off and the tone controls in the middle position, you have a good old Les Paul - start turning some knobs and flicking some switches and the sky is the limit in all directions! Very versatile! One thing I can't help but mention is that in a lot of ways this could be looked at as one of, if not the, first "custom shop" Les Paul .... along the lines of today's Elegant, Class 5, Florentine, Catalina, etc. - being an the first notable adaptation and enhancement of the model beyond the Standard and Custom. As far as this guitar itself.... we are talking GREAT condition! Add that it's just shy of 30 years old... you can call it INSANELY GREAT condition!* There is a small patch about 1 inch in diameter in about the center of the back that kinda looks like there may have been a small lacquer touch up or something in the past - not really noticeable as anything, just an area that catches the light a little different. (ARROW IN A PHOTO BELOW)* Also on the back there is an area of marks that were made by the switch tip once during transport, having escaped the case compartment and getting under the back of the guitar. These marks were very light to begin with and when professionally buffed, cleaned up great. But if you look hard, there are still some indication of them - a little like super super light worming. (AREA CIRCLED IN A PHOTO BELOW)* There are a small number of minor dings/marks hear and there on the back/sides that you can find if you go looking for them, but really nothing drastic enough to specifically mention. I tried to highlight what I could find on the top in the pics. Again... had to get the light just right to even see em.* The hardware is in great shape as well, shiny, with a little wear from use. I did notice tonight that the volume pot needs a shot of potentiometer spray as it squeaks a little when turned but other than that the electronics function perfectly and sound great! One thing I've noticed with others I've seen is that the dark part of the burst goes too far into the body leaving only a small area of the lighter color in the middle. But on this particular guitar, the burst is proportioned more like a normal Sunburst and this adds to it's appearance (IMHO). Also, while not a flamed top, there is this really cool depth to maple, kinda iridescent. Overall... the sheer sheen of the finish is excellent and in person it feels mint unless you go looking and it is just beautiful. As far a playing/sound... old wood baby! Using the "50's rounded"/"60's slim taper" description of today... the neck is on the bigger-side of a slim taper and is very comfortable. Being of the fretless-wonder era, the frets are low and have about 40 hours of play time on em since a professional (and quite excellent) fret-dress. Sonically it has a very balanced tone and a nice, almost strat-like shimmer on the top end - very clear and defined. Fast attack and great sustain. Oh - just remembered, the tuning screws on the bridge are replacements. I do have the originals and they will be included with the guitar. Other than that - I believe everything is all original. Auction includes hardshell case.I think I covered everything, but please, refer to the pictures as the final description of condition and feel free to ask questions! I also have an Artist Series case listed (not of the same period as the guitar line, but applicable non the less!) So pleasecheck my other auctions A rare Les Paul in UNBELIEVABLE condition with a SUPER LOW BUY IT NOW and a ridiculously LOW RESERVE... all from a REPUTABLE ebay seller... you can't go wrong! Specs and story as follows...Gibson Slash Appetite For Destruction Les PaulItem: GBLPSSAPCH1 The Axe That Launched a Thousand Riffs From his groundbreaking work with Gn'R, to Slash's Snakepit, to Velvet Revolver and numerous acclaimed solo and side projects, Slash has continued to embody the ultimate rebel rocker, putting addictive licks and eviscerating tone above all else, and throughout he has continued to do it on a Les Paul. To honor this achievement, Gibson introduces the Slash Appetite for Destruction Les Paul, a guitar equipped with the finest features of the original Les Paul Standards of 1958-'60, and the added punch of Seymour Duncan Signature Series Alnico II Pro Slash humbucking pickups. With looks to kill from a Grade AAA maple top with nitrocellulose "Unburst" finish, amber top-hat knobs, rosewood fingerboard with traditional trapezoid inlays, and Slash headstock graphic, and enhanced resonance from a TonePros Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece at one end and a high-density Corian nut at the other, the Slash Appetite for Destruction Les Paul is as prime a piece of eye candy as it is ear candy.Playability, naturally, is flawless, thanks to a solid one-piece Grade A quarter-sawn mahogany neck with Slash's preferred slim '60s profile, and the 12" fingerboard radius and 22 jumbo frets that have made Les Pauls notorious for big, meaty rock bends for more the past 50 years. All Slash Appetite for Destruction Les Pauls come with plush-lined hardshell case with silkscreened Slash graphic and Owner's Manual.Body and Finish Crafted from a Grade AAA maple top and weight-relieved mahogany body, the Slash Appetite for Destruction Les Paul is finished in nitrocellulose lacquer that replicates a beautifully faded vintage Les Paul Standard. The maple-mahogany combination and thin nitro finish help to bring the most out of these guitars, both tonally and visually. Neck and Headstock The guitar's neck and headstock are made in the classic tradition of the original 1958-'60 Les Pauls. Carved from a single piece of quarter-sawn mahogany, and topped with a rosewood fingerboard, the design incorporates Gibson's lauded 17-degree back-angled headstock, which contributes greatly to the instrument's resonance and sustain. Pickups and Electronics To Slash's own specifications, the Slash Appetite for Destruction Les Paul carries a set of Seymour Duncan Signature Series Alnico II Pro Slash humbucking pickups, which are made in the image of the original Gibson PAF humbucking pickups. From a rich, throaty wail at the neck position to a muscular, eviscerating roar at the bridge, these pickups offer all the tonal versatility that has made the Les Paul Standard famous. Their full splendor is transmitted via a Switchcraft selector switch, high-quality potentiometers with Orange Drop tone caps, and a robust Switchcraft output jack. Hardware In the image of the great Les Paul Standards of the 1958-'60 the Slash Appetite for Destruction Les Paul wears a classic set of hardware, all enhanced for the tonal standards Slash demands. A TonePros Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece offer uncompromising resonant coupling between strings and body, while a set of Kluson-style tuners combines an authentic vintage look with efficient modern performance.Specifications:Body Top 'AAA' Maple Top Back 'A' Mahogany Back Binding Antique Body Type Traditional Weight Relief Adhesive Franklin Titebond 50 Neck Species Mahogany Profile Slash Slim 60's Profile Truss Rod Standard Joint Angle 5° (+/- 15 seconds) Adhesive Franklin Titebond 50 Neck Fit Joint Mortise & Tenon Adhesive Franklin Titebond 50 Joint Angle Tolerance +/- .005" Fingerboard Species Rosewood Frets 22 Radius 12" Nut/E.O.B 1.695/2.260 Binding Figured Antique Inlays Acrylic Trapezoid Nut Material Corian Width 1.695 Slots Gibson PLEK System Headstock Inlay Mother of Pearl Logo Gibson logo with Slash Artwork Truss Rod Cover Black Antique Bell Tuners Model Tone Pro Kluson Style with Press-In Bushings Keys Crème Plating Nickel Tuning Ratio 14:1 Bridge Type Tone Pro Material Zinc Plating Proprietary Tailpiece Type Stop Bar Material Proprietary Plating Chrome Hardware Knobs Vintage Amber Top Hat with Pointers Toggle Switch Washer Cream with Gold Silkscreen Strings .010 - .046, Genuine Gibson strings Strap Buttons Aluminum Pickups Neck Position Alnico II Pro Slash Bridge Position Alnico II Pro Slash Electronics Potentiometers 2 Volume Controls, 2 Tone Controls Type 300k Linear Audio Taper Volume, 500k Non-linear Tone Capacitors 'Orange Drop' Capacitors Coil Wiring Machine Wound Toggle Switch Three-way Switchcraft with Antique Plastic Tip Output Jack Traditional 1/4" Finish Color Appetite Amber Sealer Nitrocellulose Process 1-1.5 mils Includes:Case Type Slash Hardshell Case Exterior Black with Slash Artwork Silkscreen Case Interior Plush Lining Accessories Additional Materials Owners Manual

Le Paul Guitar Auction Description: This is a 2000 model Classic Plus flametop in Honeyburst. It is in mint condition. As you can see, it's just gorgeous and very flamey. No nicks anywhere on the body. Even the headstock is in new condition and not scratched up. It plays like a dream with low but non-buzzy action. The strings practically bend themselves. I've owned a lot of Les Pauls, and this is one the best players I've encountered. Neck is dead straight with no problems. The G string stays in tune fine (a common problem on Les Pauls). It's just an excellent guitar. It has a 60's style slim taper neck for super fast and effortless playing. Gibson stopped producing these guitars in 2001 and they are pretty rare and sought after. Some of the best flametops the USA factory ever made in my opinion. Guitar will ship well packed inside an offical Gibson hardshell case. Unmounted pickguard (no holes in this baby) and original classic Truss Rod Cover are included and will be inside the cases storage area. Pictures can't even do this guitar justice, and that's saying something looking at the pictures. I gurantee when you open up the case for the first time you'll see what I mean. Thanks for looking and bid with confidence. I'm highly rated and have zero negative feedback for a reason. Thanks!!!

Le Paul Guitar Auction Description: For sale is one of the rarest Les Paul's on the planet, the 1983 GibsonSpotlight Special with the Gibson hardshell case. Gibson only made 211of these and you are looking at number 101. This one appears to be alloriginal and in excellent working order. I did speak to Gibson aboutthis guitar and they verified with the "Custom Shop Edition" logo onthe back of the headstock they were sure this was an authentic one. Themain attraction on this guitar is that amazing highly figured maple topwith the strip of walnut running down the middle. This guitar does looklike it has the curly maple which I believe is pretty rare just withinthe production of these. The finish is close to a dark tobacco and thebook match is one of the best I have seen on any Gibson. The back ofthe body is actually figured as well more than any other LP I haveowned. If you are thinking of getting a new reissue that will set you back 5kand don't even come close to replicating the magic the Gibson guys wereable to create with the 211 that they did. This is a hell of a playerwith stamped PAFs and a super smooth rosewood board. The back of theneck does not have that super thick overcoat which has been my onlycomplaint on newer Les Pauls. All of the parts seem to match up withwhat originally was supposed to come on the guitar. It has the blanktruss rod cover, black veneer cap headstock, really well done trapezoidpearl inlays, cream pick guard, and gold hardware. The only thing I amnot completely sure of are the tuners. Most of these should have thedouble ringed Keystone tuners but these are the single ring. It isvery possible that these are the original because it was noted that ahandful of these guitar did have slight variations. For instance I haveheard that a handful of these came with a 3 piece neck while themajority had a one piece neck like this one. Also people have been emailing me saying that the two pieces of wood besides the walnut strip are actual 1957 pieces of wood that they had left over in the factory. I have not been able to confirm this by Gibson. The bottom of the bridge is stamped with "Made in Germany". I did pullthe two pick ups and the neck is stamped "137 383", the bridge has "138383". If I remember correctly those number would make them the Tim Shaw pick ups. The pots and caps seem to be original as well with the followingstamps; R13783? 71073, R137830 71079, 137804, 137804 71137. The controlcavity does have a metal shield containing it.The condition is good for its age but this was played and does have wear. It has some small front surface dings. Back of the neck is very clean with just some minorfinish checking at the top. Most of the wear is on the back of the bodywith the normal buckle rash that looks like it could be buffed out. Inthe pictures you can see a scratch right below the pick up selectorcavity and there is another small one below that one. I can make out some dings/buckle rash on the back and a indent on the back corner which is 1"X .5". International buyers must first contact me if they are interested. Ihave two of these spotlight specials and would sell them together. Theother one is an ASB as well and its #207. To check out my entire inventory google recyclerock. I will ship worldwide but please make sure the country you reside in will accept a box that is 46",19",7". Also for international buyers I will only ship this viaGlobal Express mail. Please be able to pay within 48 hours after the auction finishes. On Aug-09-10 at 12:16:57 PDT, seller added the following information: Andrewabr Store

Le Paul Guitar Auction Description: New 2010 Gibson Les Paul Standard Custom ShopHistoric1959 Reissue VOSThe 1959 Les Paul Standard reissue produced today by Gibson Custom is true to all of the original instrument's features and characteristics, including Gibson's traditional hand-carved "figured" maple top and solid, non-weight relieved mahogany body. The headstock is made from Holly head veneer, as opposed to fiber, just like it was in 1959, and the vintage-style tulip tuners are mounted in a straight line, also as they were on the original. The 24 ¾-inch scale length neck is made from one solid piece of mahogany, and attached to the body using a long neck tenon " one of the Les Paul's more distinguishing characteristics of the 1950s. The neck is topped by a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard outfitted with acrylic trapezoid inlays matching the size and color of the originals. Of course, two of Gibson's legendary Burstbucker pickups deliver all the subtle variations of true, classic "Patent Applied For" humbucker tone by using historically "unmatched" bobbin windings and Alnico II magnets. Other historical appointments include CTS potentiometers, bumble bee capacitors, rolled crème-colored fingerboard binding, single-ply crème-colored binding around the body, and a period-correct thin toggleswitch washer and jackplate. All VOS (Vintage Original Spec) series guitars will use a proprietary process that includes unique steps for staining, wet-sanding, and hand-rubbing; subsequently the guitars reflect what a well-cared for 40-year-old guitar looks like. The result is a remarkable patina that will delight even the most discriminating enthusiast. Le Paul Guitar Auction Description: Here we have an absolutly beautiful 2008 Gibson Les Paul Standard Plus Iced tea burst up for auction. Take a good look at the stunning flame maple top! To start off with I have to say this guitar looks as good as she sounds! I bought it a year ago and I am the original and only owner. The guitar has only seen a few hours of play time and has spent most of its life in its case. The guitar is in near mint condition; I would call it shop condition. There are some pick swirls on the top and one very small impression on the top which can only be seen in direct light an a certain angle. There are some swirl marks on the back that could be buffed out very easy. None of these flaws are significant enough to show up in the pictures. Otherwise the guitar is perfect wih no issues at all!! The hard shell case, which has a few marks on it but is otherwise perfect, and all the case candy is included. This auction is paypal only and your account MUST be both verified and confirmed. Payment must be made within 24 hours of the auctions close or the guitar will be relisted. Those with 0 or negative feedback must contact me before bidding.I only ship to the continental 48 states USA. This is guitar is in new condition however, I am not a Gibson dealer. These are getting harder and harder to find. This may be your last chance. Even the neck feels better on this one than the others. I guess I am trying to say this guitar is a winner. I tried to show you the movement of the top from different angles in my pics. Look at how dark the Fingerboard is, it looks awesome against the amber finish. Another worthy feature is the grain on the back of the guitar, simply beautiful! Also, the plastic is still on the bridge. Will be shipped in original Gibson Box. I feel comfortable shipping this guitar Internationally so feel free to bid if you are from outside the USA. Le Paul Guitar Auction Description: Up for auction is an almost NEW Gibson Les Paul "White Beauty" Custom Electric Guitar! Are you a fan of the famous Gibson Black Beauty guitar? but wish it came in a different color? Well this is the guitar for you!! This is a 1 of a kind UNIQUE Gibson CUSTOM! I promise, you will not find ANYONE that has a WHITE BEAUTY!!! Not only does this guitar LOOK BETTER than a traditional Black Beauty but it will also SOUND BETTER! This guitar sounds and looks INCREDIBLE. YOU will turn some heads with this bad boy. It does not get any COOLER!I purchased this White and Gold Gibson Custom Les Paul NEW from the Guitar Center in Nashville in May. I was on tour and the neck of one my Les Paul Customs snapped from a fall, so I bought this guitar to finish the tour. I am not a fan of the pickups that come in Gibson's (SEE MY NOTE BELOW) so I had my tech re-wire it and set it up with hand wound Amalfitano PAF's (these are in my opinion THE BEST PICKUPS you can buy...again SEE NOTE BELOW). When my broken Les Paul got repaired I decided to convert this into a white version of the famous Black Beauty, so that I didnt have 2 of the exact same guitar and that I could get some different tones. I am a sucker for White and Gold guitars (they are classy, flashy, and just look so good on stage) and I had always dreamed of having a White and Gold version of the Black Beauty. So I had my tech install an additional Amalfitano PAF and put a B7 Gold Bigsby on it. To better accommodate the Bigsby I upgraded the bridge to a gold Schaller Roller Bridge, which is a better quality bridge than the stock gibson one and the rollers help it to stay in tune better while allowing the strings to move easier and not break with the Bigsby. I also had him replace the pots and caps with high end pieces that sound way better! I toured with this guitar some this summer and actually used it on stage at different shows opening up for the Goo Goo Dolls, Bon Jovi, Train, Brett Michaels, Kris Allen, etc. This guitar is as solid as a rock and you will not find a better looking, playing or sounding 3 pickup Les Paul. If you played it next to a straight from the factory Gibson Custom this would BLOW IT OUT OF THE WATER!Can you tell me about the guitar itself? This guitars body is a Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul. Gibson's Custom Shop produces some of the finest electric guitars on earth. Using the best materials and wood money can buy, a staff of skilled luthiers reproduce some of the greatest Gibsons of the past and create stunning new instruments for players and collectors who demand the best.It features :One-piece mahogany neck Carved maple top Warm-toned mahogany body 24-3/4" scale Ebony fingerboard 22 frets Figured acrylic block inlays Gold hardware Metal tulip tuners Body, neck, and headstock binding 1-11/16" nut width Includes Gibson Custom Shop hardshell caseThe 3 pickups generates a warmer, friendlier tone than the standard. A gold Bigsby looks cool and lets you put a little wiggle in your chords. The finish is ebony just like the original and the VOS treatment gently ages it to look like an especially well cared for original.IS this guitar in Good Shape? How much touring did you do?This guitar is in really good shape. I did not tour with it too heavily. Just for 2 months. I also had it recently proffesionally set up. So the intonation is spot on and the action is great! However it does have 2 small blemishes. 1 is right where the strop lock is by the neck. When I first bought the guitar I tried to install strap locks myself. I wound up stripping the screw and scratching some of the paint in a small little area right around the strap holder. I had my tech re-install and secure the strap locks, but I did not have him touch up the paint, as it was small and with a strap on it, you cant even see the blemish. It also has a little blemish on the back of the guitar right by the strap holder as well. Both of these are shown in the pictures. If you would like for an additional $75 I can have Don Bell at Bell Custom guitars match and touch up the areas. He does FLAWLESS work. Other than this the guitar is in GREAT shape and looks almost brand new! It is also currently set up with DR Blues 11 gauge stringsWhy replace the Pots and Caps? and What did you replace them with?-I replaced them with the RS guitar works modern guitar kit. This basically gives you WAY more control of your volume and tone and gives you a much more DYNAMIC and TRANSPARENT sound. This is a simple thing to do but it has HUGE RESULTS!(2) 500K RS Long Shaft SuperPots„˘- We designed these pots in conjunction with CTS. Used for the volume controls in the kit, these pots have a custom taper that gives you a noticeable difference between each number on your volume control. You can finally roll your volume down to 2 or 1 and not loose any clarity, even in the neck position. A smoother resistor path make this the best pot to ever be used in the guitar.(2) 500K CTS Long Shaft Audio taper pots.(1) RS .022 GuitarCap®- The guitar cap is the first and only capacitor designed specifically for the guitar. This part is the only capacitor in the world that meets our stringent quality-control standards, not only because of its construction, but because of how great it sounds in the tone circuit!! The .022 microfarad GuitarCap® is best for the bridge position tone control of your guitar.(1) RS .015 GuitarCap®- This is the same great GuitarCap® as above, just in .015 microfarad. This is best used for the neck tone control.(1) Length vintage-black wire- Used for the grounding in the circuit.(1) 4-foot length braided wire- Used for wiring switch.(1) Long 3-way toggle switch- Manufactured by Switchcraft.(1) Input Jack- Manufactured by Switchcraft.-for years, guitar manufacturers have chosen to cut corners on the electronics they have used, even in their top-of-the-line guitars. These pieces are designed to utilize the best electronic components possible in your guitar. These pots and caps are the culmination of thousands of hours of research and development into different guitar electronics and how each of them affects the overall tone of the guitar.-this kit is also great for those who are tired of losing tone and note-definition every time they roll their control past 8!!-All of the above components combine to create unprecedented clarity in your overall tone. This increase in clarity will also equate to an increase in note bloom, harmonic complexity, and, in some cases, sustain. Because this kit increases the usability and intuitiveness of the controls onboard your guitar, you will achieve tones that you didn't think were possible. The Modern Upgrade Kits offer a more transparent, dynamic sound. How Much is this Guitar Worth?$3900 - New Gibson Custom Shop purchased at Guitar Center in Nashville ( 4230.75 after taxes)$525 - 3 Amalfitano PAF pickups$235 - Bigsby B7$55 - Gold Schaller roller bridge with posts$90 - 1 x Complete Premium Modern Electronics Upgrade Kit-Long Shaft from RS guitar works$250- Installation and work on guitarTotal spent = $5385.75A NEW Gibson Custom 57 Custom Les Paul Black Beauty lists at $7174!!!. But this Guitar looks and plays WAY BETTER! Plus this is a 1 of a kind. You will not see a white beauty any where! My Buy it Now is $4500 which is almost $1000 less than what this guitar cost me and is $2674 cheaper than a standard black beauty!! At 4500 it is almost the same price as a plane Jane Gibson Custom. But why settle for a standard Gibson Custom when you can have this white Beauty! My Buy it now is $4500 which is still a STEAL! Act fast this guitar will not be around for very long! Why did you replace the Gibson Pickups?Somewhere in the past 20 years, guitar players decided that a "hotter" pickup was the way to go. The idea was that the "hotter" the pickup was the more your guitar would cut thru and that it would be louder, brighter, have more gain, and would be more driven. So guitar manufacturers started putting some version of an alnico 5 magnet (a stronger magnet than the alnico 2 which was used in the 50's and 60's) in all their guitars. While a hotter pickup will have a louder output, you actual lose a lot tonally and in terms of control. The more wire wound on a coil, the "hotter" a pickup will be. This means it will have more output than traditional pickups, a little more midrange, but it will have a lot less treble and you lose a lot of definition in your sound. Think about it, the louder your pickup is the more your amp drives and the more you lose in terms of sound and control, you lose definition, high-end, your notes mush together, you also lose a lot of sweet overtones, and lower your ability to crisply slice through a mix. That is not to say that a hot pickup won't cut through a mix well, it's just that a weaker pickup, even though it is weaker, will be brighter and have a more knifelike quality.Have you ever wondered why older vintage pickups tend to sound special and why they are preferred by many professional guitar players? That's because they were all hand made and used a weaker alnico 2 magnet! A weaker underwound pickup will have a more shimmering rhythm quality, a clearer note response, more complex overtones, and leads will cut thru a mix much better. It may sound bright and thin to those who like a lot of gain and a fatter sounding pickup (i.e. if you like mesa boogies), but if that's what your going for, this guitar isn't for you. Vintage pickups were also scatter-wound. Scatterwinding is the process of guiding fine copper wire by hand in a random or scattered pattern around a bobbin that is spun by a machine. True scatterwinding can only be done by hand and requires a degree of skill to get the required tension along with consistent results. When a coil is scatterwound, the wire isn't as close or even, layer on layer, as with a machine and this lowers the distributed capacitance that exists between the turns of the wire. Lower capacitance allows more top end through, the resonant peak increases slightly, and the pickup has a flatter frequency response across its range. The result is a clearer, more open sound that has the impression of being louder purely by the amount of extra detail and dynamics present. The layering by hand of the fine magnetic wire in a non-uniform pattern disperses the sterile sounding attributes inherent to machine made pickups. Pickups that are hand assembled will always sound better than mass produced, automated machine made pickups. When I got my Les Paul custom I was pretty happy with it, it looked and felt great. I also had a Sheraton that I had re-wired with Gibson Burst-buckers. The Burst Buckers were hotter and had more gain than the custom pickups in my les paul, but sounded somewhat similar. A friend approached me about putting some Amalfitano PAF's in my Les Paul, and I was pretty hesitant at first, after all Gibson Custom Shop pickups are the best Gibson pickups you could buy, and I had spent a good chunk of change on the Burstbuckers and were pretty happy with them as well. But I figured I would give the Amalfitano's a whirl and see what happened. When I got my guitar back the difference was HUGE. It was like someone literally removed a blanket from my guitar! It was brighter, chimier, was harmonically richer, and wasn't near as fuzzy or bassy. Before with the old pickups when I would strum a chord I had a hard time distinguishing individual strings and notes within that chord, now I could hear every string and every note in the chord. I also gained a lot more control over my sound. The amp had more clean head room and I had my ability to control the sound really increased. I could drive the amp to make it break up like it used to, but I could also back it off more, which I couldn't do before. The biggest thing I noticed was that they also cut through the mix much better! I couldn't believe that I had a top of the line Gibson and it could still have this much room to improve. Putting new pickups in it, was literally like getting a new guitar. Compared to the Burst Buckers and the Customs there was no comparison. The Burstbuckers sounded gainy, fuzzy, and the midrange was much harsher than the Amalfitano's. The pickups in the custom sounded flat, lifeless and muddy compared to the amalfitano's. At the end of the day I will never go back. I have had Gibson burstbuckers, Gibson custom shop pickups, epiphone pickups, and played in the studio w/ tons of other Gibson guitars, and also a LP loaded w/ Seymore Duncan custom customs. Nothing comes even close to the Amalfitano hand-wound Paf's. One of the best $300 you will ever spend.www.amalfitanopickups.comHow does this guitar sound? INC.Les' original design, masterfully recreated. The passing of the incomparable Gibson Les Paul in August 2009 broke the hearts of guitar enthusiasts around the world. What can never be broken, though, is the legacy of innovation and creativity that he built during 94 years of constant musicianship. Though the original guitar he designed in 1952 has informed every Gibson guitar since, our engineers were inspired anew to handcraft a guitar just the way Les demanded it nearly 60 years ago. Never before has a Gibson Les Paul guitar been so completely designed to Les' original specifications"until now. Anchored by a golden mahogany body, maple top and rosewood fingerboard, the Gibson Les Paul Tribute 1952 guitar is equipped with an all-new bridge that's an exact replica of Les' original 1952 patent. Gibson luthiers have also added historical interest with details like stamping "prototype" into the back of the peg head and staying true to Les' preference for P-90 pickups. BodyEach Gibson Les Paul Tribute 1952 guitar is topped with a two-piece maple top that fits snugly onto a two-piece mahogany body. The maple top is Grade C and its mahogany body is Grade A. This wood combination yields not only a gorgeous exterior but also a specific yet versatile tone that many guitarists have come to demand. The mahogany body of the Gibson Les Paul Tribute 1952 cranks out tone that is somewhat soft, but extremely well-balanced, with good grind and bite. It has the potential for good depth, with full (though not super-tight) lows, velvety highs and a slightly compressed response. Its maple cap adds snap, sizzle and sustain. The electric guitar's resonance also benefits from not having any bridge or stopbar holes. The gleaming gold finish of the Gibson Les Paul Tribute 1952 guitar is complemented with stunning antique binding, done painstakingly by hand in Gibson's Nashville, TN shop.FinishThe top of the Gibson Les Paul Tribute 1952 guitar comes in a classically beautiful Gold finish, just as Les's first Les Paul guitars did. The rim, back and neck showcase the beautiful grain patterns of Grade A mahogany and are treated to many coats of high-gloss lacquer. This lacquer accentuates the beautiful wood grain patterns of the mahogany body and protects its maple top. The 90-sheen lacquer finish gives the guitar a sleek surface that's smooth to the touch. Unlike many other manufacturers who settle for a polyurethane finish, Gibson opts for a nitrocellulose finish that will encourage the natural vibration of the Les Paul guitar for a purer tone. In addition, a nitro finish is very porous and actually gets thinner over time. That way your electric guitar's wood can breathe and age beautifully.Neck and HeadstockThis Les Paul is fitted with Gibson's classic '50s neck profile, which is a thicker, rounder profile than the necks that followed in the '60s. The neck is constructed from a solid piece of Grade-A mahogany, the hands-down best choice for guitarists who demand a strong but lightweight neck. Before becoming "putty" in the hands of Gibson's skilled craftsmen, the mahogany is milled and cut to a highly desirable "quarter sawn" wood-grain orientation and then kiln-dried until it has reached optimum moisture levels. The traditional truss rod, found in most Gibson guitars, is highly responsive to the individual adjustments you'll want to make to personalize and optimize string action and sustain. The truss rod cover on the Gibson Les Paul Tribute guitar is chrome. The headstock is carefully angled at a tried-and-true 17 degrees, which increases pressure on the strings and helps them stay in the nut slots. An increase in string pressure also means there is no loss of string vibration between the nut and the tuners, which equals better sustain. The Gibson logo"one of the most globally recognized logos of all time"is inlaid in mother-of-pearl onto the headstock. The "Les Paul Model" signature is silkscreened in gold just below the logo. To offer historical interest, the word "prototype" is stamped into the back of the peg head.Neck FitGibson uses what is known as the Mortise & Tenon neck joint to bind neck to body so that the two pieces form one solid unit. This time-tested joint style has been used in all the great woodworking arts"from shipbuilding to cabinetry"and has been proven to yield a stronger neck and body than if the Les Paul guitar was made from a single piece of wood. The adhesive used to join neck and body is Franklin Titebond 50, one of the strongest glues on the market today. When fitting the neck and body together, Gibson uses precise measuring equipment so that all angles, pitches and alignments maintain a tolerance within .005 of an inch. Not only does this help to keep your Gibson Les Paul guitar in tune but it also maintains proper string alignment relative to the fingerboard.FingerboardThe Gibson Les Paul Tribute 1952 is equipped with a Grade-A rosewood fingerboard, loved by guitarists the world over for its comfortable playability and mellow tone. The 12" radius of the Gibson Les Paul Tribute 1952 fingerboard provides smooth note bending capabilities and eliminates "dead" or "choked out" notes, common occurrences on fingerboards with lesser radiuses. The acrylic trapezoid inlays that decorate the fingerboard are made of white ABS plastic, giving these classic inlays the look you lust for. The Gibson guitar's neck is also accented by gorgeous antique binding.NutThe nut on the Gibson Les Paul Tribute 1952 is made from Corian, which is mainly composed of acrylic polymer. It's a very durable material, delivers enhanced sustain, and holds the tolerances of the precision cuts made by Gibson's PLEK machine. It is installed into the top surface of the neck, butting up to the end of the fingerboard to ensure proper tone and sustain transfer.PickupsBoth the neck and bridge position pickups are equipped with cream-colored screaming single-coil P-90 pickups. The P-90 was the standard pickup on all Gibson models in the late 1940s and into the 1950s and because of its crisp, bright tone it has experienced resurgence in popularity with many of today's modern rockers. These classic Gibson pickups deliver sizzling, slightly gritty midrange roar. You'll find that the P-90s' high output and biting treble has more nuanced harmonic coloring than the typical Fender single coil pickup.ElectronicsThis Gibson Les Paul features two Gold Speedvolume controls with potentiometers made by CTS. The pots (short for potentiometer) have an Ohm reading of 300k, which allows for a smooth variation from soft to loud. It also features two Gold Speedtone control knobs with a pot Ohm reading of 500k, the highest value for a panel pot, and provides a very smooth transition between highs and lows. The Gibson guitar features a three-way toggle switch made of stainless steel and adorned with a crème cap and a crème washer. This switch acts as the instrument's pickup selector. The 1/4" output jack made by Switchcraft is super heavy-duty construction, holding your guitar cable securely in place. The jack is offset by a plastic crème jack plate.HardwareThe headstock is equipped with vintage-style tuning keys with press-in bushings. Plated in nickel and sealed with a special lubricant, these keys are designed to withstand a lifetime of tunings. The bridge is a tribute to Les. Gibson engineers designed it after the original Les Paul patent of 1952. The story goes that Les and Gibson had a difference of opinion on the string wrap direction. Gibson wanted it to wrap underneath and Les wanted to be able to palm mute the strings so he needed it to wrap over the top of the bar. When Gibson's didn't see it his way, Les designed and patented one himself in 1952. So here it is, Les, just for you... PlasticsThe control knobs are Gibson's Gold Speed knobs, found on many vintage and modern Gibson guitars. The pickguard is made of cream-colored ABS plastic and is designed specially to fit around P-90 pickups.AccessoriesYour Gibson Les Paul Tribute 1952 Plain Top comes protected in one of Gibson's durable hardshell cases. In addition, each Les Paul Tribute 1952 comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, which carries an Les Paul photo insert and the details of your guitar.Gibson 2009 Les Paul Tribute Electric Guitar Features:Mahogany body Maple top 24-3/4" scale Set neck joint Mahogany neck Rosewood fretboard 50s neck profile 22 frets 1-11/16" nut width 12" fretboard radius Les Paul Trapeze bridge Gibson P-90 bridge and neck pickups Two volume, two tone controls Kluson-style tuners Chrome hardware 3-way pickup selector Lacquer gold top finish Includes Gibson hardshell case Gibson 2009 Les Paul Tribute Electric Guitar Includes:Gibson hardshell case and Custom Shop Certificate.Own this loving tribute one of the original guitar heroes.

The "Black Beauty" debuted late in 1953 to instant acclaim, but it would be a few years before the design would reach its zenith. LIVE AUCTION REQUIREMENTS - SEE BEFORE BIDDING
Le Paul Guitar Auction Description: Up for sale is my 1998 model Ace Frehley Les Paul guitar. I bought the guitar new, so I am the original owner. I have played it occasional weekends sparingly becuase I have several guitars, so I never pay any of them all the time. So, the guitar does not have a lot of wear. It's never left my smoke free studio, but I have lovingly played it quite a bit. The condition is excellent. Well, what can I say to describe this guitar! To begin, I have played many Gibson brand Les Pauls at the music store to try them out. I have made it my business to try every variation of Les Paul I could lay hands and ears on. Some feel really crappy. Some sound like junk. Some feel like junk and sound like it. Some are just lovely in every aspect. Unfortunately though, you can't simply trust the fact that the name 'Gibson' is on the guitar or that it is some 'so-called' re-issue or something. Each guitar is unique, and some that are supposed to be great don't turn out to be - regardless of price. Now having said that, I bought this particular Ace guitar because it was simply perfect. I picked it up, and I dropped dead. It looks awesome, feels perfect and rocks like a mother. The finish on it is beautiful. The flame job on the maple top is to die for. The creme colored pickups look incredibly sexy. The 3 pickup arrangement is the coolest available for a Les Paul. The clear coat just gleams. And the sound, well the sound just rips friends. The Dimarzio Super Distortion pick ups are not only among the most powerful pickups you can get, but they put out some of the best growl, snarl and squeal you have ever heard. They can take any amp and push it into snarling overdrive. You don't need a boost pedal! But if you have one, you get sustain for days and gnashing, overtone filled power chords. If you try this guitar side by side with virtually any other Gibson, they all sound and feel whimpy by comparison. But be forewarned though! You can make any guitar sound like crap if you put it through a crummy amp, or you use some cheezy fuzz box through headphones! This guitar is a professional grade instrument and requires a professional grade amp or setup to reach it's screaming potential. If you plug this guitar into a good Marshall, Mesa, Bogner, Fender or other quality amp and it does not sound awesome, keep practicing because it is you! And...turn it up Elroy - this Paul wants to bark and snarl! The louder it gets, the more it likes it. I've played this guitar a 3/4 volume and have come away from that event with horribly ringing ears, and a smile from ear to ear! Once you hear it, you just don't want to turn it down. This Les Paul comes with; 3 high output Dimarzio Super Distortion pickups that go from ZZ Top blues to Metallica and everything in between. They roll off nicely when turned down, and spank the amp at full volume. It has Grover Rotomatic chrome tuners, chrome Gibson Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge, a 3 way switch and an Ebony neck. Your friends will drool over this guitar! Check out the pictures and I challenge you to compare this guitar to every other Paul for sale on Ebay. Is there one that is more beautiful than this particular one? No way bud! I am so in love with the look of this guitar that I remember just sitting there and staring at it, trying to drink in it's beauty (not exaggerating!). I was just so happy to be the owner of such a fine instrument. Do you know what I mean? And the back of the guitar is just as beautiful as the front (in a different, mahogany kind of way of course!).The bottom line is, you will not find a better made, better feeling, better sounding Les Paul than this Ace. If you intended to buy just one Les Paul for your life, this one you have been waiting for. The minute you pick it up, you know that you have a special instrument in your hands. It is solid! I believe that it is non weight relieved (at about 9lbs.), but it is very comfortable to wear. This guitar is just so well made. Its beefy, and makes the amp bark and growl when you turn it up. You simply can't get the same tone out of those chambered and weight stripped Les Pauls. If you try them side by side, other Pauls just sound 'thin', but you never notice it until you own an Ace Frehley. Before you decide to buy my Ace, I strongly suggest that you go to the guitar store nearest you. Take every Les Paul off the shelf, regardless of price. Look at the front, look at the back. See the way it feels in your hands. You will notice that many of those guitars have wood imperfections, crummy book matching and whimpy sound. Then I want you to come back and look at the pictures of my Ace and compare it to those other guitars. You will see, as I have, that this particular guitar has the best of everything. Great woods, perfect book match, gorgeous sunburst job, wonderful clear coat (They are NOT all the same. Not even all the Ace's are as good looking as this one).So boys and girls (yes girls, you can rule the world with this Les Paul too!), I absolutely guarantee that this Les Paul will blow away most any of those that you pick up in your local Guitar Center and try out. They are all not created equal. There is a definite difference between those 'inexpensive' mass market Les Pauls, and the artist custom versions. This guitar feels and plays as well as any above $4,000 Les Paul, but can be had for a fraction of that. The auction includes one 1998 Ace Frehley Les Paul in excellent condition except for 2 small pin head sized dings in the clear coat up by the pick up selector (see pix). These are easily repaired with a dab of clear coat. There are no scratches, or other dings to worry about other than some swirl marks on the back, I assume from polishing. There is no surface checking or buckle rash. The clear coat is gorgeous thick and deep! The cherry sunburst and flame are some of the best I've ever seen on a Les Paul. The frets are excellent with minimal wear. The original Gibson Ace Frehley hard shell case is included which is also in excellent condition except for some light scratches on the exterior from being rubbed against my other guitar cases in my studio closet. The satin cover for the guitar (with the Ace logo) is perfect except up by the headstock where it looks like the cut off strings tore the inside satin a little (it's not torn all the way through). The interior blue velvet case lining looks like new. The guitar lived mostly in the case unless it was being played. It never left the house. I took loving care of it. I wiped it down every every session, and I polished it regularly. Some of the original Ace hang tags are included along with the truss adjuster tool.I truly love this guitar like it's one of my children, and it kills me to sell it. But I need a new console for my studio so a few of my beloved flock must make the sacrifice. Please dear friends, be sure that youwant this professional grade tool of the trade, and that you arewilling to pay for it once you win the auction, ok? I can tell you that you will never regret spending the money. All of that anxiety melts away the first time you crank up your amp and the Ace speaks. I have spent nothing but joyful hours with this guitar, and I truly wish the same happiness for you if you can find the funding to attempt to own and master this fine instrument.I have set the reserve at a very fair number so you can get yourself plugged into a game changing guitar for a fraction of the price that a custom shop quality guitar like this should command. Please do not bid unless you are serious about buying. I cannot cancel your bids once you have committed yourself, please do not ask. My Ebay friends, you get one chance at owning a historic piece of equipment like this Ace. Are you going to let it go to someone else? Is your dream to be great worth the price of admission? Personally, I've never regretted the ones that I've bought, only the ones I let slip away.I unconditionally guarantee the quality ofwhat I sell in my auctions 100%. However, because this is a big ticketitem, I can not accept returns. I truly apologize to my Ebay customersfor this policy! I know it is hard to trust someone and buy something expensive, and nothave the return warranty to make it easier. I hope you will pleaseunderstand that I am not a rip off artist. I only sell good stuff, Istand behind what I sell, and I'm not all about the money. However, in thepast I have had some buyers who got buyers remorse after the purchase andhave returned high dollar items. I simply can't have this fine instrument man handled, thenreturned after a few gigs! I hope you can understand where I'm comingfrom on that. This guitar is just too nice to be shipping it all aroundto numerous buyers. Don't get me wrong though. Once you own her, I expect you to tear her up and make rock history! Or, put her in a display case. It's up to you...Thanks for looking at my auction. Ships Worldwide to confirmed Paypal accounts. For overseas shipping, please contact me for a quote.
